WHERE
WE ARE
About 5 Km from the market town of
Greve in Chianti going up into the hills in the direction of San Michele you reach
Le Cetinelle, a beautiful, centuries-old Tuscan farmhouse surrounded
by woodland.
At 620 metres above sea level in the Chianti countryside, guests
can enjoy a fresh and peaceful environment, yet still be within
easy reach of the cities of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. Not far
from Le Cetinelle is the Park of San Michele, one of the highest
and most picturesque natural parks in Chianti, a marvellous area
for walking in the unspoiled countryside.
How to reach us:
If you come by car, you can reach Le Cetinelle following the blue
signs for Siena if you come from Florence and vice versa if you
come from Siena. If you come by train, outside Florence's train
station you will find a confortable private bus service (the blue
buses called "SITA") that go from Florence to Greve in
about 40 minutes/1 hour. If you come by car from motorway, the nearest
exit to Florence coming from north (Milan) is Firenze Certosa, while
the nearest exit to Florence coming from south (Roma) is Incisa
Valdarno. When you have entered Greve, pass through three sets of
traffic lights, and then take the 1st road on the left, direction
"Parco Naturale San Michele". Follow the road going up
the hill past Greve cemetery. The first km is asphalted, and
then you must continue along the dirt road for 4 more km.
On the road you'll see many signs of the other villas. When you
see the sign Le Cetinelle you turn right. If, on the other hand,
you're coming from Siena, on entering Greve take the first turning
on the right, direction Parco Naturale San Michele. Follow the road
going up the hill past Greve Cemetery, etc etc.
Directions from South (Incisa): From Incisa you go south
on the ss69, direction Arezzo. When you reach Figline Val d'Arno,
you turn right for Greve in Chianti. Before reaching Greve, you
will see a sign on the left for Lucolena (3 km). Turn there and
pass through Lucolena and soon after Dimezzano. Just after Dimezzano
there is a very sharp right turn with a sign for Greve. Take this
road and go straight ahead (even when it becomes a dirt road) until
you reach Le Cetinelle.
Greve in
Chianti is a small village but it offers many services like: restaurants,
bar, theatre, cinema, souvenir stores, grocery stores, supermarket,
wine-shops, gymnasium, tennis court, banks, post office, tourist
information, police-station, bus service, car and moped renting,
private taxi, chemist's, Saturday morning market, petrol stations
(also 24 hours). Usually, grocery stores, supermarket, banks and
post-office are closed on Sunday, anyway Simonetta (the farmhouse
owner) will be glad to answer your questions on this subject. Another
pretty village to see is Panzano in Chianti.
Panzano (20 minutes by car from Greve following Siena directions)
is smaller than Greve but it is worth a visit. Besides, in Panzano
you will have the possibility to buy fresh bread and other foods
even on Sunday at the Sunday morning market.
From Le Cetinelle in every direction, there is a great view of the
vines and olive trees which provide us with excellent
wine and extra virgin olive oil. The guests can taste
these products while you are here and they can buy wine and oil
to take home Le Cetinelle is within easy reach of many places. Florence
is 30 km away and Siena is 40 km., Pisa (80 km), Lucca (90 km),
Arezzo
(60 Km), San Gimignano (40 km),
Volterra (60 km). Apart from Pisa
and Lucca (an hour's and 30 minutes drive away), these cities are
only an hour's drive away. From Greve there is an excellent bus
service to Florence. Click
